Express5800 Enterprise Servers
Leveraging NEC's world-class supercomputer and mainframe heritage, the NEC Express5800/1000 Series of servers represents the third-generation in NEC's family of highly expandable mid-range and enterprise server platforms. NEC's 1000 Series enterprise servers offer a track record of leading TPC performance. Combined with Microsoft's Windows Server 2008 these systems are the first in the industry to support dynamic hardware partitioning. Supporting the full family of Intel 9000 and 9100 Series Itanium Processors and scalable from 2-64 processor cores, the NEC Express5800/1000 Series of servers are the ideal platform for consolidation, database, and line of business applications.

NEC's GlobalMaster software is a powerful autonomic system management solution for the Express5800 Series of Servers. Designed to manage the mainframe architecture of NEC Enterprise Servers, GlobalMaster delivers the ability to statically and dynamically manage all resources of the physical system resource, enabling autonomic resource allocation of processing and I/O subsystems.

Express5800/1080Rf is a highly expandable mid-range platform for consolidation, database, and line-of-business applications.

The NEC Express5800/1320Xf is the third-generation of the Express5800/1000 Series with Intel® Itanium® processors incorporating NEC's innovative A3 (A cubed) chipset. NEC's A3 chipset contributes to the server's outstanding reliability, availability, serviceability (RAS) and performance. And NEC offers the industry's first Enterprise server with dynamic hardware partitioning functionality for Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008.

The NEC Express5800/1000 Series includes the capability for dynamic hardware partitioning of the processors, memory and I/O within the server into physically isolated partitions, each running its own operating system environment. The Dynamic Hardware Partitioning allows the automation of a hot add or hot replace of processors and their associated memory, based on thresholds and policies, to a running OS partitioned on the server with no disruption to applications on the critical OS. NEC was recognized by Microsoft for its role in the joint development of Windows Server code name "Longhorn" Dynamic Partitioning and Windows Hardware Error Architecture.

Supercomputer Performance
The low latency and high performance memory and crossbar interface technology of NEC's supercomputers served as a basis for its Express5800/1000 Series. NEC recognizes that the demand for Itanium solutions is moving toward the high-end symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) server market, where performance and scalability are vital. With the new Dual-Core Intel Itanium processors, NEC expects significant market growth as Itanium processing power becomes a mainstream processor for Enterprise servers.

Mainframe Reliability
NEC has delivered mainframe-class RAS features in its Express5800/1000 Series for over 40 years. The server supports modular designs, redundant components, hot plug capabilities, and floating I/O. Illustrating its mainframe technological capabilities, NEC was the first company in the world to demonstrate the dynamic reconfiguration of CPU and memory resources while running a beta version of Microsoft® Windows® Server 2008.
